“U.S. Troop Care Package" received a letter on June 15, 2004, from Martin E. Dempsey, Major General, U.S. Army, Commanding General, Headquarters, 1st Armored Division that reads:

“I want to personally thank you for your leadership role and initiative in providing the wonderful music instruments for my soldiers.  The troops at Freedom Rest really enjoy them, and it was a wonderful example that there are generous Americans who are supporting us from home.  Thank you, too, for continuing to send donations and comfort items that our soldiers really appreciate and need.  Please accept this memory book of the Task Force 1st Armored Division’s first twelve months in Iraq.  With thanks and admiration.”

NOTE:  A message to “U.S. Troop Care Package" was received after the event that read: . . . “The General was overwhelmed with the package and the great care that goes into each package.  He opened his package at home very early in the AM, after he sent another group of soldiers off into Kuwait.  He was very tired but thought he needed to take the time to open this box and see what wonderful things that are happening for the soldiers and the extremely wonderful people doing all of this selflessly for our soldiers.  He was taken back by what he saw.  His fax to our Lt. Colonel was read out loud over the lunch awards ceremony for the volunteers, it brought tears to many eyes.”

In addition, “U.S. Troop Care Package" received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Colonel, Commanding of the Department of Army, 321st Theater Material Management Center, Kuwait that reads:

“I wish to extend my personal thanks and the appreciation of the soldiers of the 321st TMMC (FWD) for the wonderful pillow gifts.  Please pass on our sincere thanks to the many kind people supporting “Operation Comfort.”  Your support of the American soldier reflects great credit upon yourself and your community.”
